Homer’s Gumbo Pot is known for its vibrant New Orleans Southern cuisine, situated conveniently along Highway 115 in Canon City. Our menu is a celebration of authentic Louisiana dishes. From gumbo and jambalaya to po' boys, each dish tells a story of tradition and love for culinary excellence. We’re committed to bringing the spirit of New Orleans to our guests.
Chef Marcus Summerford cut his teeth cooking in New Orleans where he met Kelli 20 years ago. His career as a chef has seen everything from a chicken wing joint to French fine dining, eventually becoming an executive chef. Kelli worked in many forms of hospitality and had a career as a wedding photographer. Covid hit New Orleans hard and shut down many hospitality industries. The Summerfords packed a passenger van with their two sons, their pets and hit the road for Colorado. They settled in Canon City in 2020. In 2024 they got an idea to bring their New Orleans food and culture to the town by opening a small restaurant. Homer's has become a hub for Southern expats and folks who want food that soothes the souls.
